Wedding Gowns & Preservation

Your wedding is a day you’ll remember forever, and your wedding gown is one of the most important and symbolic possessions you will ever own – but let’s face it, once the wedding is finished, your gown can look a little worse for wear.

Your gown goes through it all – from morning till night, eating, drinking, dancing and more, your gown is put through enough in one day to leave stains, odor, or damage        — this can leave lasting damage to special fabrics.

So, how do you make sure your wedding gown will last as long as your memories?

Always clean before storing

Even if you can’t see stains, it doesn’t mean there aren’t any. Many stains, such as those caused by sugars, can easily be missed or not visible at all – but these can still cause damage and discoloration over time if your gown is stored without being cleaned.

Sooner is better

In order to keep any stains from setting into the fabric of your gown, we recommend bringing it in to be treated and cleaned as soon as possible after your wedding, ideally within 24 to 48 hours.

Store it properly

At Care Cleaners, our preservationists will make sure your gown is properly cleaned, treated and prepared properly for long-term storage – we’ll recommend the best options for storage when you collect your gown.
